Dear Hon. Malcolm Turnbull and Mr. Alix Collins
The World Solar Challenge is an international event which draws the world’s attention to Australia, promoting action on climate change, innovation, jobs of the future, conservation and Australian tourism.
As the race travels through remote outback locations, it also presents a unique opportunity to empower Aboriginal and other rural communities in combating climate change through innovation,at a time in which climate change poses a real threat to our farmers and us all.
In such an era, where the world faces significant challenges concerning energy supply and climate change, we cannot afford to miss such an opportunity for Australia to shine.
That is why the World Solar Challenge is an event we should all support and promote to the globe, as a world leader in combating climate change with industries of the future.
At this hour, we’ve reached a point where we can continue to lead the world in industries of the future and create jobs, or rest on our laurels, reminiscing on how we used to be “the lucky country”.
This year, the World Solar Challenge begins on 8 October 2017 in Darwin, Northern Territory and ends on 15 October 2017 in Port Augusta, Adelaide, with many teams from around the world vying for supremacy in this bi-annual world event.
We implore you to seize on this rare opportunity to promote Australia’s international solar race for the sake of all Australians and future generations around the world.
